What video file size, dimensions and formats are recommended when uploading videos to Blackboard?

The following recommendations on video file size, dimensions and formats will be supported by Educational Technologies as they have been determined to be the most Blackboard and iTunes U friendly.
  • The maximum video file size loaded into Blackboard is 10MB (10 megabytes)
  • The maximum dimensions for video files are 320 X 240

  • The following file types need to be used when saving or converting video files for upload into Blackboard or iTunes U:
    • MP4 - also known as MPEG-4
    • MOV - Quicktime file format

How can I add a video or audio file to an assignment?

  1. Go to http://learn.nmsu.edu and log in using your NMSU Username and Password.
  2. Click on the course name.
  3. Click on the Assignments Tool.
  4. On the Inbox tab, click on the name of the assignment.
  5. Click the Add Attachments button.
  6. Click the My Computer icon.
  7. Locate the video file on your computer and click Open.
    The file will appear just above the Add Attachments button.
  8. Click the Submit button

How can I add a video or audio file to a discussion message?

  1. Go to http://learn.nmsu.edu and log in using your NMSU Username and Password.
  2. Click on the course name.
  3. Click on the Discussions Tool.
  4. Click on a topic.
  5. Click the Create Message button.
  6. Enter a Subject.
  7. Enter a Message.
  8. Click the Add Attachments button.
  9. At the Get Files window, click the My Computer icon.
  10. Locate the video file on your computer and click Open.
    The attached file will appear just below the Add Attachments button.
  11. Click the Post button to post your discussion message
